Do our lives make global sense?
We live in a scary time of rising autocracy and accelerating climate change. Shall we trust kings and tyrants for safety or will we find within the power to rule ourselves?
Asking such questions and discovering hopeful answers, I’m Judah Freed, a seasoned journalist and the award-winning author of Making Global Sense - Grounded hope for democracy and the earth inspired by Thomas Paine's Common Sense. I write to better understand the world and myself in it. I write to help move ideals into hard reality.
My varied posts here feature commentary, book excerpts, articles, storytelling, and archive pieces from five decades in publishing. If you are curious, a websearch of “Judah Freed” gives a tiny glimpse of my life and work. I’m growing as I go along. You’re invited to join me on a journey for these times that try our souls.

Belong in a community of people who share a belief that global thinking is necessary to end authoritarian thinking and devastating climate change. My book documents that at least one billion people on earth are forming a loose “global sense movement” now transforming our minds, hearts, families and societies for a sustainable future.
